Guidelines for the Nomination of Life Membership
These guidelines have been prepared to assist Committee Members, nominees, and referees in understanding the nomination and consideration process for Life Membership at Westown Golf Club (WGC).
Life Membership is the highest honour awarded to recognize the distinguished and exceptional contribution of individuals to Westown Golf Club. This prestigious recognition is reserved for those who have demonstrated a sustained and outstanding commitment to the Club.
This document outlines the procedures and policies applied by the Committee when considering Life Membership nominations. Importantly, the Committee’s role includes evaluating whether a nomination meets the standard of “distinguished and exceptional service” as defined by these guidelines. The Committee’s endorsement reflects their majority opinion that the nominee meets this standard. However, it should not be construed as a recommendation for Members to vote in a specific way.
Nomination for Life Membership
- Any current financial member or Life Member may propose or second a nomination for Life Membership.
- Nominations must be accompanied by relevant supporting documentation and submitted to the Secretary/Manager prior to the final Committee meeting before the Annual General Meeting (AGM).
- The nomination will be reviewed at the next Committee meeting, where a majority decision will determine whether the nomination is endorsed.
- For the nomination to succeed, at least 75% of Members present and eligible to vote at the General Meeting must vote in favour of granting Life Membership to the nominee.
